Why LGBTQ scholarships are important

As a teacher, I believe strongly in the power of education to open doors to opportunity and to foster personal growth. Not only do Bill 7 Award scholarships enable students to pursue their education goals, but they also provide LGTBQ youth with a loud and clear message: “You are not alone.” Lack of familial support is an all too common theme for LGTBQ youth. Behind Bill 7 Awards there stands a community of many hands and hearts ready to provide needed financial support and validation.

Most Memorable Bill 7 Moment

Having attended many Bill 7 Awards ceremonies, I am not left with one, but rather, many poignant memories. The common denominator of these is a collective sense of accomplishment, pride and hope on the part of the recipients.
